Popular Amarillo Shopping Center Just Went Up for Sale

From time to time, we see businesses go up for sale here in Amarillo. It's not overly uncommon for a small business to call it a day. Some will try to sell so the business can stay alive and thriving, while some will just shut the doors and be done.

However, it IS uncommon to see entire shopping centers go up for sale. No, not just an individual store in the center, I'm talking about the whole place being for sale. Think if someone put up Westgate Mall as a whole for sale? Well, it's not quite Westgate Mall, but this is pretty significant.

Popular Shopping Center Up For Sale

Western Crossing just announced that it is accepting bids for the entire shopping center. Yes, the outdoor conglomerate is getting out of the game entirely and calling it a day. Every shop will be sold off, down to the parking lot.

The question now is, will anyone submit an acceptable bid? The center does boast some pretty big stores that help drive a lot of traffic, and stores that are longstanding and reliable when it comes to tenancy. That is going to be something that anyone bidding on the place is going to look at.

Stores Inside Western Crossing

As mentioned, this is what will be the driver for anyone bidding on the property. Stores inside Western Crossing that are staples include Michaels, Petco, Burlington Coat Factory, and Mardel Christian & Education.

All of these stores are big-time staples and haven't gone anywhere in years. However, with the rash of retail giants closing down stores, there is always a possibility that Amarillo is one of the places that will have these stores cut. I mean, Burlington just opened up a new place off Soncy. So, will it sell, and for how much? We'll wait and see.
