Amarillo Christmas Tradition The Birth of Christ Cowboy Style
The Amarillo area has many Christmas traditions.
One of those stories takes the story of the birth of Jesus and puts a spin on it.
What if Jesus had been born in the time of the Cowboy? What would his birth have looked like?
The Baby Jesus still would have been born in a barn. Probably would have been laid in a manger. The Wiseman would have traveled from afar on horseback. Joseph and Mary would have traveled by horse and cart possibly a covered wagon
I can only imagine what gifts they would have brought. Would it have been a gift of animals? Spurs? Cowboy coffee?
Plus, the Chuckwagon would have been fired up and prepared to feed those who traveled so far to meet Christ
We can only guess. However, the Nativity story will be brought to life for another year at the Palo Duro Cowboy Church. It’s the opportunity for you to pile up in the car and drive through a live nativity cowboy style.
You’ll learn about the birth of Jesus as it would have happened if the Baby Jesus had of been born in the time of the Cowboy.
The Palo Duro Cowboy Church Cowboy Nativity will take place on Sunday evening December 18th from 6 pm - 8 pm. You and your family can enjoy free hot chocolate or coffee as you drive through and learn the story of Christ
The event will take place in the parking lot of the church located at 12200 Highway 60 in Canyon, Texas.
