New Amarillo Event Venue Celebrates Opening With Michelada and Jerky Fest

Amarillo will soon have a new place to host events, and the celebration to open the doors is going to be huge. If you are looking for a fun and unique event where the micheladas are flowing and the jerky is perfection, mark your calendars for August 1.

What to Expect at the Barrio Event Center Grand Opening

The Barrio Event Center is officially opening its doors, and instead of doing just a normal ribbon-cutting and grand opening, it is going all out. The event will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 12 pm to 5 pm. The new Barrio Event Center is located at 1529 SE 10th Ave., and this is one party you don't want to miss.

Let's check out some of the main attractions. The grand opening will feature not one but two competitions.

Best Michelada Competition

Contestants will be in a battle to see who can make and serve up the best michelada.

Best Beef Jerky Competition

Jerky makers get to show off their talent and recipes as they vie for the top honor of best beef jerky.

Attendees will be able to sample both the micheladas and the jerky, then vote for their favorites.

Car Show, Vendors, and Food Trucks

While the competitions are underway, attendees can also enjoy a car show and shop with local vendors. Food trucks will also be on site, selling and serving up delicious food and drinks.
