Working out is beneficial to one's health, and Amarillo has many great places to get a workout in. However, for some people, location, price, and convenience are important for a gym. For many, it's not affordable or convenient. That's all about to change for those on the east side of Amarillo. There's a new gym coming your way.

Where the New Planet Fitness Is Headed

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, a new Planet Fitness is coming to Amarillo. The new gym is expected to land at 3510 E Interstate 40 Hwy, in the Grand Plaza Shopping Center. The new Planet Fitness will join Amigos, Ross Dress for Less, and dd's Discount, among others.

Renovation Timeline and Cost

The renovations in the space are expected to start in September and end in December. The space for the new Planet Fitness is 14,418 square feet and is expected to cost $800,000. Click here to see where it's going.

Amarillo's Second Planet Fitness Location

This will be the second Planet Fitness location in Amarillo. The original Amarillo location is at 3801 Olsen Blvd. We did reach out to Planet Fitness Corporate to see if we could get a timeline for opening and what additional features this new PF would include, but at the time of posting, we had not received a response.

Planet Fitness prides itself on being a judgement-free environment that is easily accessible and affordable. They have almost 3,000 locations worldwide.

Relive 1980s Elementary School Gym Class

If you are a Generation X or Millenial like me, you likely have some strong memories of gym class. Either you loved it or hated it. I made some fun memories and built character and muscle, but I'm really glad I never have to go back and face some of these things again! And I know my teachers did their best to make gym enjoyable and teach us life skills. They succeeded - this is all in good fun. And, hopefully, future generations will get to thoroughly enjoy some of these as much as I did!
