Sandra Bullock's longtime boyfriend, Bryan Randall, has died. He was 57.

"It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS," his family shared in a statement to Page Six Monday (Aug. 7).

"Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request. We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours," the statement continued.

Randall's family asked for "privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan."

Randall is survived by his daughter, Skylar Staten Randall.

According to ALS.org, ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a "progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord." It is commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Bullock first met Randall at her son Louis' birthday party in January 2015.

The Blind Side star and the model-turned photographer went public with their relationship later that year. The couple even showed up together at Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding.
