Jeff Buckley Biopic in the Works
The life of singer Jeff Buckley is about to be told on the big screen.
According to Deadline, 'Welcome to the Rileys' helmer Jake Scott is set to direct an untitled biopic about the late singer, who died tragically in 1997 at the age of 30. Ryan Jaffe ('The Rocker') will pen the script, while Riley's mother, Mary Guibert, will serve as executive producer.
No word yet on who will actually play Buckley in the movie. (Are you listening, James Franco?)
Buckley, who released his only completed studio album, 'Grace,' in 1994, drowned while swimming in Tennessee's Wolf River on May 29, 1997. According to reports, actor Brad Pitt tried for years to make a movie about him, but was turned away by Guibert.
