As her latest album's most recent single might suggest would be the case, Taylor Swift has treated her two-year relationship with Joe Alwyn with a particularly delicate touch (neither has even featured the other on respective Instagram pages). But Alwyn, a 27-year-old actor, has finally addressed his girlfriend for the first time...

...kinda

In an interview with British Vogue (quotes gathered by Us Weekly), Alwyn was asked about what it's like to date someone who's so front-and-center in the limelight. And while he sort of skirted the question, he did, at least, acknowledge that the relationship was real — so far, that's unprecedented.

"I'm aware people want to know about that side of things," he said. "I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people… but I really prefer to talk about work."

A source told E! News in 2017 that the couple were aiming to keep their relationship as private as possible.

"If she was seen in England, she made sure everyone thought it was a work trip," the source said. “Taylor and Joe have really tried to be on lockdown and have spent most of their time together in private locations where they could get to know each other without the pressure of a public relationship and people making judgment calls."

Still, ardent Reputation fans know that allusions to Alwyn are plastered all over the lyrics of Swift's latest LP. She basically admitted to as much during a Taylor Swift NOW concert earlier this summer.

“[I] think there was a bit of a bait-and-switch that happened with this album when we put out ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ and we’re like, ‘Guys, this album is gonna be one thing.’ And then the album came out,” she said. “It’s legitimately an album about finding love throughout all the noise.”
