So over the weekend, I gave in and took E. to see Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D.

So how was it?  It was Jurassic Park in 3D.  Don't get me wrong, I have always liked watching Jurassic Park.  I'll be honest, I didn't go see it in the theater when it came out in 1993.  I think I was too cool for dinosaurs back then, so I waited until it came out on VHS. For those of you who do not know what a VHS is, well, back a long, long, long time ago, moves came out on cartridges that had tape in them and that's what we rented at the movie store.  I kid, but it was a pretty great movie back then.

Well recently E. has this fascination for dinosaurs and about a month ago, I let him watch Jurassic Park for the first time and he loved it.  We have watched it at least 20 times since then, so when I found out Jurassic Park was coming to the big screen, I knew I probably had to bite the bullet and take him.

So off we went on Friday.  I paid the obscene ticket price for IMAX ($30 for two people), and we got popcorn (of course that costs what it costs).

So we go in and find our seats and get ready for the movie, I will admit seeing the Iron Man 3 trailer in 3D was very cool.  Then, again Robert Downey Jr. in 3D well...you know.

What can I say, it was the same Jurassic Park as it has always been, but in 3D. I have to admit it was amazing.  At one point in the movie that involved the raptors, I think I jumped 3 feet out of my seat.  E. found it humorous that the raptors scared me.  Then again, those things were vicious.  Not to get to much off topic but did you know that the raptors in the movie were not animatronics, they were actual people in costumes.  Click here to check it out.

So you might be asking, was it worth the money to see Jurassic Park in 3D?  The movie itself, not really, but the fascination and awe and happiness that was in my son's face was priceless.

So if you can afford it I would suggest you go experience this movie with your kids.  I mean it is a movie about dinosaurs after all.

Oh by the way, Jurassic Park 4 is in the works and just might be in theaters next year..
