Even though the first season of the NBC show ‘Smash‘ was kind of a smash (we’ll be here all day!), there have been a few shake ups on the show already, and all before the second season! Megan Hilty, who stars as Ivy, gave some dirt on season two.

Some changes for the next ‘Smash’ season? Well, we’ve already said goodbye to Ellis, Dev, Frank, and Michael Swift from the show, and ‘Smash’ creator Theresa Rebeck has been replaced with former ‘Gossip Girl’ writer Josh Safran. Additionally, other Broadway stars like Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez are set to make appearances on the show. Oh, and so is Jennifer Hudson. Yes, that Jennifer Hudson.

Hilty spoke with THR about the changes. “We’re going to have a whole new energy in the show. Andy is a really good friend of mine, so I’m really excited to be working with him,” the ‘Smash’ starlet said of the new cast member.

However, she also made mention that seeing the departure of the others cast members was rough. “Change is inevitable, especially in this business. While I’m sad to see my friends go, I’m also excited to make new friends. Just because they’re leaving now doesn’t mean that they won’t necessarily be back later,” she said. “I’m excited to see what happens in this next season and see what all these new, fresh faces bring to these story lines.”

And for the addition of Hudson on the show, Hilty admits that she’d like to “duke it out” with the star in a duet. “If I know anything about Ivy, other people’s success is a threat to her, especially the women in the business,” she said. “So if I had to guess, I’d have to say that they probably don’t get along very well.”

Season two will pick up just a few weeks after the finale of season one, so viewers will be able to follow quickly, but Hilty does hint at where she stands after losing out on the role of Marilyn to rival Karen (Katharine McPhee). “I don’t want to give too much away, but you’ll find out really soon about how they manage to come back together and how she’s dealing with Karen’s new status in the show.”
