With all of the news recently about the new City Hall in Amarillo opening, there was one big question that wasn't answered at the time. With all of the moving that needs to be done, are there going to be any disruptions to service we should know about? The answer is, yes.

What You Need To Know About City Office Moving To New City Hall

The City of Amarillo took to social media today to lay out a schedule of times when certain offices will be closed while moving and getting situated in the new City Hall. The good news is that it seems like there won't be any major disruptions.

According to the information that the City put out, there are only four dates that you need to know about before the grand opening. Those dates are:

  • Utility Billing Department moving Feb 5 and February 12 to the new City Hall
  • Vital Statistics Department closed Feb 7 and Feb 10; reopens Feb 11 at the new City Hall

The New City Hall In Amarillo Grand Opening Is February 25

On February 26, we'll wake up and the new City Hall won't be the new one anymore. It will simply be the City Hall. February 25 is the official grand opening, and ribbon cutting, and the first time a council meeting will be held in the new chambers.

There will be guided tours of the new City Hall from 10 AM until 1 PM.

Keep the above dates in mind, and know that by the end of this month, everything will be back to routine. Just in a different building with a patio that offers a view of Hodgetown and the rest of downtown Amarillo.
