I don't even know where to begin with this one, I really don't.

We hear it all the time. Guns are a huge problem in the country. Then there are those that say no, it's the people with guns that are the problem.

Well look, I have to believe there's a line here. Yes, both can be construed as factual statements. And I recognize that what I'm about to say doesn't involve a REAL gun, but it's bad enough.

Amarillo Crime Stoppers is on the hunt for those who are going around and shooting cats with a pellet gun. It's been happening over at Lawrence Lake near Western Plaza Dr.

Seriously, who gets enjoyment and pleasure out of shooting animals with ANYTHING? Many of the cats that are getting shot are strays, however, it doesn't make the action ok. I mean, would you walk up to a homeless person and just pop them with a pellet gun for fun? I don't think you would, or maybe your twisted mind would.

Thing is, it doesn't matter. It's wrong...and it's illegal. Animal cruelty charges WILL be brought upon those that are up to these dirty tactics.

It's such a heinous and ridiculous act that Amarillo Crime Stoppers has upped the reward to $4,000 for information leading to an arrest. If that doesn't tell you what they think about it, I don't know what will.

They aren't sure if there are other animals that have been shot or not, but they are aware of several cats. If you know ANYTHING about this, please reach out to them at 806-374-4400. You can also leave an anonymous tip if you wish at amapolice.org or by using the P3 Tips App. Let's put an end to this.
