Summer starts off hot, then cools just enough to fool you. That brief relief is what Texans call 'fake fall' — don’t fall for it. What comes next is the wrath of the sun.

The real summer in Texas hits like a boiling freight train. Recently, we broke all kinds of heat-related records and spent a lot of time in the triple digits. Going outside felt like you were being punished.
Winter Isn’t Over Yet
We also have multiple run-ins with Old Man Winter. Just when you think spring has started, winter comes roaring back with freezing temperatures, blizzards, ice storms, and potential power outages.

It takes a lot of getting used to. It took me a couple of years to wrap my brain around the wild Texas weather and the insane changing of seasons.
What Newcomers Should Know
The best tip I have for surviving the seasons changing in Texas is to not put anything in storage. Some days you'll wake up dressed for winter, and be in shorts and a t-shirt when you get home.
