One of the biggest and most looked forward to events in Amarillo is back this year. The Amarillo Chamber Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off is back, with one major change.

I recently got to chat with Penni from the Chamber about it. You can listen to the conversation below. Yes, we address the length of the event's name.

This year is the 25th Annual Amarillo Chamber Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off. Most of us are used to it happening downtown. This year it will be at the Tri-State Fair grounds.

In all honesty, that's great news. If you've ever been to the cook-off, you know that it gets pretty crowded.

With everything being set up at the fair grounds, we all should have a lot more room to move around with constantly having to say "excuse me" with a mouth full of corn. It's going to be nice going from booth to booth without having to hold my cup up over my head to avoid bumping into someone.

If you're planning on going out there this year, the entrance will be at Gate 1 near 10th and Marrs. The whole thing kicks off at 5PM on Thursday, Oct 7.

If you haven't ever been, I honestly can't recommend it enough. It was the first big event I went to when I moved to Amarillo. It lived up to all of the hype.

The food was great, and never ending. The massive mutant ears of corn dipped in a pitcher of butter were my favorite part.
