When 'The Intern' was first announced last year, the latest film from writer-director Nancy Meyers was set to star Tina Fey in the lead role. But it seems Fey has dropped out and Reese Witherspoon will take her place (even though we all know no one could ever really replace Tina Fey). Joining Witherspoon in the upcoming film is Robert De Niro, who's been really into comedies lately.

Variety reports that Witherspoon and De Niro have signed on as the leads of Nancy Meyers' 'The Intern. The new comedy features Witherspoon as the successful founder and head of a company, who gets roped into a new program, requiring her to hire a senior citizen as an intern. De Niro will play the senior citizen, naturally.

De Niro, who recently starred in 'Last Vegas' ('The Hangover' with old dudes) and Luc Besson's 'The Family,' can be seen next alongside Sylvester Stallone in 'Grudge Match.' Witherspoon has been keeping things more dramatic lately, and stars in the upcoming 'The Devil's Knot,' based on the tragic true story of the West Memphis Three. It's been a while since we've seen Witherspoon tackle comedy, and it'll be fun to see her (mis)matched with De Niro.
