If you are alive, then you are aware of an app called TikTok. Your children, wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, and coworkers are all most likely watching videos on it. You, are probably watching videos on it. If not, I envy you.

Recently, a video about small towns in Texas got a lot of attention. What made several people scratch their head was the part where it mentions Amarillo. We'll get to that in a second.

Amarillo's Time To Shine!

First of all, thank you to MyCurlyAdventures for including Amarillo in your list of small Texas towns. It's always nice getting a shout out.

Wait. If you didn't watch the video. You should. If you did and need to watch it again to make sure you saw what you saw, go ahead. I'll wait.

Where Are My Beaches?!

Several people have pointed out, and rightly so, that there are no white sand beaches in Amarillo. There are no beautiful ocean views with sailboats.

However, I'm not here to take a dig at MyCurlyAdventures. From one curly headed individual to another, I got the joke and I appreciate it.

If you read in the description of the video it says, "You'll never believe the last one." That's followed by a rather sly looking emoji, which suggests that maybe there is something coming at the end of the video that shouldn't be taken so seriously.

Apparently, This One Flew Right Over A Few Heads

Unfortunately, on an app where people mindlessly scroll through videos that can be so completely devoid of meaningful content that your brain is left feeling like a piece of chewed gum, descriptions don't always get read.

In fact, some people replied with things like "This has to be a joke...."

Well, yeah. Of course it is. It says so (basically) in the description.

Which is why, I suppose, this reply to the video was posted.

Thankfully, more people got the joke than didn't. A lot of us in Amarillo have been having fun with it, talking about our beaches.

Thanks for the laugh.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
