The final numbers for the unemployment show some good signs for the Amarillo area.

The Texas Workforce Commission reported that The Texas unemployment rate was at 3.9% at the end of 2017. That was a slight raise from when it was at 3.8%.

The Amarillo and Midland areas had the lowest unemployment in Texas during December. Their rate at that time was 2.5%.  Most likely because of the new businesses that have opened in the last 12 to 15 months.

The Texas economy has added 306,900 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs over the year. That includes 400 additional jobs in December. The annual employment growth for Texas was 2.5% in December. This means there have been 92 months of annual growth.
