There has been a lot of talk in the news recently about many Fuddrucker's restaurants shutting down. In Texas, a number of locations are owned by the same company who also operates Luby's. If you have never heard of Luby's, they are a cafeteria-style chain of restaurants that started right here in Texas. Along with their 77 Luby's locations, Luby's Incorporated also operates a number of Fuddrucker's, Koo Koo Roo, and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants. The company, which is based out of the Houston area, has just announced that they are ceasing operations and liquidating their business. So when I heard this, I started to wonder what that meant for the fate of our local Fuddrucker's off I-40 and Soncy.

I have some very good news to share. Our Fuddrucker's here in Amarillo will be staying open! It turns out that our local location is owned by another group called Cafe Venture Company. They are the Fuddrucker's franchisee owner of 11 stores in west Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Those stores include Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, Corpus Christi, Waco, Tulsa, Albuquerque, and Farmington. While other Fuddrucker's fans in parts of our state may soon be missing their favorite burger, we are safe here in Amarillo.

If you've never visited our location here in Amarillo, you need to carve out some time to stop in a for a meal. Their specialty is made to order burgers, but they also have other tasty options on the menu. And don't forget about a shake the cap the meal off. Just like every restaurant, it hasn't been easy for Fuddrucker's during the pandemic, but they are open for business and ready to serve you. I'm getting really hungry just writing this! If you want to stay connected to our local restaurant, use the website FuddsBurger.com.
