Let’s Celebrate The Brady Bunch Today

Back on this day in 1969, the infamous song you know an love was introduced to us, "Here's a story of a lovely lady...", you know you are singing it now.

The Brady Bunch debuted back on this day in 1969 and introduced us to Mr. and Mrs. Brady, Greg, Marsha, Peter, Jan, Bobby, Cindy and Alice.

This is a show that has spanned decades.  It is very rare that you will find someone who doesn't know about the Brady Bunch.

However, it was a show that was brave for its time because it told the story of a blended family in a time where people didn't speak of divorce.  It was assumed but the show never revealed what happened to Mrs. Brady's first husband, after revealing that  Mr. Brady was widowed.

We learn in the first episode that Mike's wife passed away. However, the absence of Carol's first husband remains a mystery. Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of the show, wanted her to be divorced. The network wanted her to be a widow, thought being divorced was too risque for the times. The compromise was that it was never addressed one way or the other.

So let's celebrate in a very Brady fashion today.  It's a very Bradyversary.
