Preparing The Kids for Back to School
Back to School is almost here, in fact, for us, it is less than a week away. So when it comes to the break of Summer, how do you get the kids back into their schedule? I am not an expert in this, because I’m fairly new to the whole my kid’s in school thing. However, here are a few of the steps I have been taking.
This past Monday, I started implementing the school bedtime. So I make sure, my son is bathed and in bed for his school bedtime. During the summer I let him stay up later than what I normally would, but its back to bedtime routine.
Preparing for the Next Day
Before bedtime we have been picking out our clothes and getting our backpack ready. (He takes a bag full of fun stuff to his summer care so we use that as practice for getting our backpack ready)
This week we are making time to do some kind of homework in the late afternoon/evening so it won’t come as such a shock next week. For him that includes reading a book out loud to me or practicing his handwriting.
I am trying my hardest this week to make sure I am cooking. I didn’t cook full meals this summer so this week I’m trying to get back into my routine of healthy full dinners.
Starting a new grade can be scary for a young person. So I have been having talks about how much fun the new year will be, and some of the exciting things that will be happening.
