Growing up, my grandparents lived out in the country thus out of the city limits.  So, when the 4th of July rolled around we would always go out to their house with our massive package of fireworks.  We'd shoot fireworks off in their middle of their dirt road.   If, and only if we had a good rainy season and not in a drought.  Yes, it was fun. But, we were outside the city limits and it was legal.

A truck carrying fireworks struck a moose on the Trans Canada Highway near Wawa, Ontario on Friday morning. The collision caused the vehicle's fuel tank to rupture and catch fire, and you know what happened next. One of the great things about the 4th of July is the fireworks.  As a child I had the opportunity to "pop" our own fireworks since my grandparents lived on a dirt road outside the city limits.  However, most kids that I know, including my son don't get to do anything like that so it is great that they have a fireworks display right here in Amarillo.

Growing up my grandparents lived out in the country so my brother and I were allowed to pop fireworks each 4th of July.  We always had left over BlackCats, so we would pop them throughout the year.  One time my brother thought it would be funny to play a trick on my grandma.  He took one of her sauce pans and put lit firecrackers in them then put the lid on it set it in the kitchen floor and ran. 

Forget about the dawn's early light, this Fourth of July is all about the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air and maybe even a couple of spiders. I grew up with grandparents who lived out in the country so every July 4th we were able to go to their house and pop fireworks.  Its one of my favorite memories as a child.
