6 Of The Most Haunted Places In The Most Haunted Texas Towns

The Lone Star State is huge, and has an incredible history. It should be no surprise, then, that Texas has more than its fair share of supposedly haunted places. We decided to take a look at the most haunted places in the most haunted towns that the state has to offer.

Eerily enough, there were six of them.

The Most Haunted Towns In Texas

According to a study done by Lawn Love, in honor of the upcoming Twilight Zone Day, Texas has six cities ranking in the top 25 when it comes to the "best cities for paranormal activity."

If you're looking for things that go bump in the night in the Lone Star State, look no further than:

• San Antonio
• Dalls
• Houson
• Austin
• Ft. Worth
• El Paso

San Antonio actually ranked 7th in the nation on their list. El Paso ranked 24th. Other cities in Texas were represented on the list as well, but no where near these six.

The Most Haunted Place In San Antonio

It really shouldn't be a surprise. In fact, I'm willing to wager that you could just go ahead and guess this one off the top of your head.

The Alamo.

Legend has it that while The Alamo might be missing a basement, it's absolutely riddled with things that are otherworldly. One piece of lore states that The Alamo is guarded by ghosts whose eyes burn red, and they're armed with swords and muskets of fire.

The Most Haunted Place In Dallas

According to some accounts, the most haunted place in Dallas also happens to be one of the most haunted in the entire state. It's all thanks to one very unhappy bride.

The Adolphus Hotel.

Supposedly, there was a bride whose big day took a tragic turn when she took her own life in the hotel. Legend has it that she makes her personal business to scare the crap out of people, and has ever since she died.

There are other ghosts, too. Those, however, don't have quite the tale that the jilted bride has. Some believe they're just guests that didn't want to give up having a good time.

The Most Haunted Place In Houston

The most haunted place in Houston, Texas actually happens to be one of the most haunted hospitals in the country. At least, that's how the story goes.

The Jefferson Davis Hospital was built on top of a graveyard. The tombstones had been relocated. The bodies...not so much. This led to all manner of paranormal activity, as anyone who has seen the film Poltergeist would expect.

Some of the ghosts and apparitions are believed to be those of men who died in the Civil War. Some of the ghosts are believed to be former patients at the hospital.

Double trouble.

The Most Haunted Place In Austin

Austin actually has a lot of really haunted places. The one that sticks out the most, though, is the State Capitol. Apparently it's haunted by more than just a bunch of slick politicians.

Supposedly you have the ghost of a woman in a red dress, wisps and orbs, and even a ghost with half of his head shot off.

No wonder our politicians seem to have such a hard time. It all sounds incredibly distracting.

There's also supposedly growls and scraping noises that can be heard. I'll leave you to make your own jokes.

The Most Haunted Place In Ft. Worth

With it being Ft. Worth, you'd have to expect the most haunted spot to be in possibly the most famous spot. The stockyards plays host to one hell of a haunted location.

Miss Molly's Hotel.

According to legend, what started out as an "upscale boarding school" for sick kids eventually became a speakeasy. From there it turned into a good old fashioned cat-house, if you know what I mean.

I'm pretty sure you do.

It's even been a bed and breakfast where guests can enjoy all manner of paranormal activity including the apparition of a child that is believed to be one of the sick children from its days as a boarding house.

The Most Haunted Place In El Paso

El Paso just so happens to be home to what some consider to be the most haunted house in the whole entire state. It belonged to a former mayor, and supposedly some of his family are still there.

The Magoffin Homestead.

Legend has it that the former lived in the home around 1875. The mayor's best friend and brother-in-law, Charles, died in the home.

The story goes that you can still find him there rocking in his chair. There's also a woman who haunts the home, as well as the ghost of a young child.
