Endless Summer: Amarillo Residents Brace For More Heat
If you're hoping to get some relief from the non-stop summer heat we seem to be getting in Amarillo, Texas, you won't find it anytime soon. It seems like we've been seeing above-normal temperatures for this time of year for a while. We've been patiently waiting for fall to show up, and it will still be at least a week before it arrives.
Above Average Temperatures Continue In The Texas Panhandle
Earlier today, the National Weather Service Amarillo put out information on the forecast for the day. The high temperature, according to their forecast, is supposed to be around 86 degrees. While it's better than the 100 plus we were seeing at what was supposed to be the end of summer, it's still way above average.
According to the information they put out, it's 10 degrees above average for Amarillo. It's the same story for most of the Texas panhandle today. Several places are close to being 10 degrees hotter than usual for this time of year. It feels like we're stuck in an endless summer.
No Relief From The Heat In Amarillo, Texas This Week
To follow up on the "good news" for today, the National Weather Service Amarillo posted information about the rest of the week. If you're hoping for a cool-off, you're going to be getting the opposite instead. In fact, this is going to go through Saturday, according to them.
It feels crazy to say, but we're going to be in the nineties for most of the week. Our stretch of ninety-degree or higher temps starts on Wednesday and goes through Saturday. Fingers crossed that Sunday brings somewhat cooler weather, but I'm not holding my breath. This is the summer that just won't end.
Stay cool this week. Hopefully, it's the last one like this. I'll be the optimist and say that I'm holding out for a cooler week next week. Knowing the Texas panhandle, though, I'm probably wrong.
