February is not supposed to feel like summer, yet here we are in Amarillo, Texas with high temperatures making us all wish we had worn shorts today. The forecast was for temperatures topping off around 80. At current check, however, it looks like we might have smashed yet another weather record already in 2025.

February Off To A Record-Breaking Start In Amarillo, Texas

The National Weather Service posted some interesting information earlier today about the potential for our high temps of the day to be record-breaking. According to the National Weather Service, the hottest it's ever been in Amarillo on February 3 was 81 degrees back in 1934.

1934 is the year remembered for things like the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, Donald Duck being born, and Bonnie and Clyde finding themselves on the wrong end of a lot of guns. This record has been held for a very, very long time.

Did Amarillo, Texas Break The Record For The Highest Temp On February 3?

While we wait for the official word on whether or not today is the new title holder for the hottest February 3 in Amarillo, we can try and see how likely it is that we beat the old record of 81 degrees.

Checking the weather.com app on my phone, it says that at the moment I'm writing this it is currently 88 degrees in Amarillo. That seems insane to me, so I decided to go online with my question. When I do a Google search for current temperatures in Amarillo, the result is currently 86.

While I prefer to wait on the official word from the National Weather Service, I think it's safe to say we've had another record-breaking day when it comes to weather in Amarillo, Texas. This time, though, I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying the break from wearing multiple layers and still freezing.
