The FBI has released a report listing the most dangerous cities in Texas.

It's called the "Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report".  It ranks dangerous cities in the state with populations of 100,000 or more.  There are 35 Texas cities included in the report.

Statistics used for the report come from 2016 crimes per 100,000 citizens.  Eight categories are tabulated by the report: violent crime, murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.

In this report Amarillo ranks as the fifth most dangerous city in the state.  Our neighbors to the south, Lubbock ranks as the most dangerous city in Texas.
