Amarillo Buildings That Seem To Be Cursed – 3130 S. Soncy
Today we have another edition of Amarillo Cursed Buildings. Keep in mind when we say cursed we don't mean haunted or anything really negative, it's just buildings that have had multiple businesses in them over the years.
Today we are looking at 3130 S. Soncy, for as young as this area is in Amarillo, we have seen a lot of different restaurants come and go in this building.
Zookini's
Zookini's was one of my favorite places to grab lunch. It was basically a place with a GIANT salad bar. You don't have hardly any salad bars left in Amarillo and this place was the place to get a great salad. Oh and let's talk about their fat-free ranch. It tasted like the real thing. I'm almost positive they just put the good stuff in there and said it was fat-free so we wouldn't feel guilty about drowning our salads in it. They had a full menu of other things to eat, including their fried zucchini, which was really good as well, but the salad bar was the reason to go.
Jake's Bar & Grill
Jake's moved into the location in 2010 and as fast as it moved in, it was gone. It was a great place for live music. I was able to find several reviews on the place and most of them talked about the food is good, but the service being bad.
7 Bar & Grill
7 was around for years and it came in right after Jake's. 7 had a great run until about 2017. It offered a great atmosphere, good food, and a great place to hang out and watch your favorite sports. However, their demise, which was something that was kind of out of their control happened to be a dead mouse in a salad in September of 2017.
J's Bar & Grill
J's is now in this location and has been for over 4 years now. It's a great place to watch sports, sit on their patio, meet for a drink or just go have a quick meal. J's has also hosted a couple of other restaurants attached to its building including
Stix
which moved in in February of 2020, and the pandemic proved to be difficult, I believe they were out after August of 2020. Stupid pandemic, however, their food truck was here before the brick-and-mortar restaurant and has been around since.
JimboSlice Pizzeria
Is currently attached to J's, you can order the pizza from J's or order pizza for carryout.
So if you happen to be in the Soncy area, and are looking for a bite, a drink or to catch all the upcoming football, then J's is for you.
