Blue Crane Bakery on 6th Street in Amarillo, Texas is a beautiful success story that started almost six years ago. Next week, they will be celebrating their sixth year of serving Amarillo with unique baked goods. To commemorate the occasion, they're going to be having a four-day interactive celebration.

I spoke to the owners of Blue Crane Bakery yesterday about the anniversary, and I was shocked to learn that it wasn't started by people who had experience baking. Blue Crane Bakery was started by people who needed options in a town that didn't have many.

For a lot of us, health issues wind up forcing us to change our diets. We go from eating whatever we want, to having strict dietary restrictions. I've personally gone through this and people close to me have experienced the same thing. This is what inspired the owners of Blue Crane Bakery to open up shop.

Oddly enough, they didn't have much experience baking when they opened. They were learning, and six years later I think it's safe to say they're very good at what they do. Their sugar-free, grain-free, and vegan items are all delicious; and I say this as someone who was incredibly skeptical the first time I went in to order something.

The owners of Blue Crane Bakery love their community. It's evident when you walk in and are greeted kindly, and aren't shamed for asking questions. Some places treat eating vegan as a personality trait rather than a dietary choice. Blue Crane Bakery makes you feel comfortable.

To celebrate their anniversary along with the community, their doing a big giveaway starting June 6 and going through June 9.
