The Amarillo Police Department recently released their DWI profile for the month of April, and it's shocking. It's hard to believe that driving while intoxicated is this big of an issue in Yellow City. Amarillo Police Department stated that the number of arrests and incidents related to DWI has reached an unacceptable level. So, how bad are things in Amarillo when it comes to intoxicated driving?

Amarillo, Texas Saw 49 DWI Cases In The Month Of April Alone

According to the information released by the Amarillo Police Department, there were 49 recorded cases related to driving while intoxicated in Amarillo in April. That seems like a lot, and on social media APD stated that this number is unacceptable.

According to the information that was posted, the majority of the cases involved someone between the ages of 21 and 29, more cases involved men instead of women, and in 25 of the cases the reason for contact was someone calling 9-1-1. If you are trying to find some kind of silver lining, the majority of the cases involved only alcohol.

There Really Is No Excuse For Driving While Intoxicated

APD brings up a solid point in their post about the April report. There's no excuse for it in this day and age. We have an insane number of other options available. We have rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft. Amarillo still has actual taxis you can call. If you're lucky enough to have some friends, get one to be a designated driver. There's no reason why anyone should get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
