In the days since the Washington Post shared the recording of a vulgar, sexist 2005 chat between presidential nominee/former reality show host Donald Trump and currently-suspended Today host Billy Bush, there's been plenty of fallout for the parties directly involved. It's also sparked a larger conversation around peoples' concepts of consent and language that supports sexual assault, particularly in response to Trump's comments on what he does to women he finds attractive: "Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything...grab them by the p---. You can do anything."

In an October 9 Instagram post, actress-director Amber Tamblyn shared an account of a time she herself was assaulted by an ex-boyfriend. An American is sexually assaulted every two minutes, according to nonprofit RAINN (and one out of every six American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime); Tamblyn told a story of when she, herself, was publicly grabbed much in the way Trump described.

Under a photo of former Miss Universe co-owner Trump kissing 2012 Miss Universe winner Olivia Culpo (Trump once told Howard Stern that when it comes to sleeping with the pageant contestants, 'You could also say as the owner of the organization, it’s your obligation to do that'), Tamblyn wrote, "I need to tell you a story. With the love and support of my husband, I've decided to share it publicly."

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress said that years before her marriage to David Cross, she'd "ended a long emotionally and physically abusive relationship with a man I had been with for some time." Tamblyn had a run-in with her ex at an L.A. show she'd attended with her friends.

"The minute he saw me, he picked me up with one hand by my hair and with his other hand, he grabbed me under my skirt by my vagina— my p---y?— and lifted me up off the floor, literally, and carried me, like something he owned, like a piece of trash, out of the club. His fingers were practically inside of me, his other hand wrapped tightly around my hair. I screamed and kicked and cried. He carried me this way, suspended by his hands, all the way across the room, pushing past people until he got to the front door.

Tamblyn goes on to say that before her ex-boyfriend's brother were able to intervene, he had grabbed at her clothes and ripped her necklace off.

That part of my body, which the current Presidential Nominee of the United States Donald Trump recently described as something he’d like to grab a woman by, was bruised from my ex-boyfriend's violence for at least the next week. I had a hard time wearing jeans. I couldn’t sleep without a pillow between my legs to create space. To this day I remember that moment. I remember the shame. I am afraid my mom will read this post. I'm even more afraid that my father could ever know this story.

Tamblyn's post garnered support from her friend and Traveling Pants costar America Ferrera. She also later tweeted that her father, Twin Peaks actor Russ Tamblyn, had responded to her post.

"My dad read the story. We talked. 'I'm glad you told it publicly,' he said. 'Women aren't to be grabbed. They're to be elected President.'"
