Earlier this afternoon, the Amarillo Police Department asked for the public's help in identifying a suspect from a hit-and-run. The hit-and-run left a 6-year-old injured.

According to a post from the Amarillo Police Department on Facebook, where they shared a photo of the truck involved, the truck is an extended cab and is gray or silver in color.

You can see their post with the photo below. There isn't much information given other than the description of the truck.

With school officially being back in session, everyone needs to be sure and pay extra attention in areas where kids could be walking on their way to school, or to get on the bus. If you're driving through a residential area or a school zone, slow down and be on the lookout for students.

Also, be sure to obey traffic rules when it comes to school buses. When the bus stops and activates their stop sign...stop. Don't go around. Wait for the bus driver to deactivate the stop sign and resume travel before going along your way.

There's no update (as of right now) regarding the status of the 6-year-old that was injured. We are hoping for the best.
