Arctic Blast In Texas For Christmas? Some Are Already Worried.
December has already been an interesting month in Texas where weather is concerned. We've had warmer than usual temperatures. This week there was a string of storms that blew through the state, resulting in multiple tornadoes.
Now, people are looking forward to Christmas, and a supposed arctic blast we might get.
Christmas Could Be Really Cold In Texas
I was shocked this morning when I woke up to news alerts about Christmas and ERCOT. News outlets all over the place, it seemed, were talking about a potential arctic blast over Christmas in Texas.
It seemed like there was a lot of stirring the pot by sounding the alarm. All of these stories asked the question if the energy grid in Texas would be able to handle it.
One meteorologist from out of state posted a tweet about it and claims the grid "is going to be tested again."
Watching that map play out, you can see where most of Texas, including the Texas panhandle, is included in the area that could see those cold temperatures.
Make Sure You're Ready For Winter Weather, Either Way
There has been a lot of back and forth on just "how bad" the arctic blast could be.
People are understandably on edge thinking back to the energy outage that affected most of the state in February of 2021. Others are quick to point out that this Yuletide arctic blast is a lot different from that one.
The amount of time the temps will drop and winter precipitation differs...at least from what is currently being predicted.
Either way, you'll probably want to make sure you've got what you need to stay warm. Stock up on firewood. Make sure your pipes are ready to handle the cold. Make sure you're ready to travel in colder weather.
It looks like we could possibly be in for a pretty chilly Christmas all over the Lone Star State.
