City Of Amarillo Offering Free Shelter Rides

The winter months can be brutal in Amarillo, Texas. Not only do the temperatures drop, but the panhandle wind makes the cold even more unbearable. The City of Amarillo has announced the steps they are taking to make sure everyone has a safe warm place to seek shelter at from the cold.

The City Of Amarillo Offering Free Rides To Shelters To Keep Warm

This winter, when the temperature dips to or below 38 degrees, the City of Amarillo will be taking steps to make sure everyone will have a warm place to find shelter. They will be offering free rides on Amarillo City Transit buses to anyone in need of a place to keep warm.

The free rides are available Monday through Saturday from 6:20 AM to 7 PM. All that needs to be done is simply tell the bus operator that you're traveling to one of the nearest warming centers. It's pretty simple. The ride will be fare-free.

The City of Amarillo lists several shelters they are working with. Those shelters include:

Guyon Saunders Resource Center
Faith City Mission
The Salvation Army
Code Blue Warming Station

Honestly, this is a great way to help people stay warm this winter. Not only do we have the shelters available, we now also have a way of getting people there who might not have been able to make the trip.
