For safety reason we should be wearing our seat belts and have our children properly restrained in their child safety seat or seat belt.

The Amarillo Police Department received a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation to provide funds to have more police officers on the street enforcing these laws.

Texas law requires every person in a vehicle to be secured by a safety belt. Even passengers in the back seat must be secured.  All vehicles are included.  Every child younger than eight years of age must be protected with a child safety seat or booster seat unless they are taller than 4 ft. 9 inches. The child seat must be used according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the safety seat system.  Many safety seat manufacturers specify that their seats are not to be used in the front seat of a vehicle.
Seat belts must be worn as they are designed to be used, not under an arm.

So be smart and be safe and buckle up or you could get a ticket.
