Amarillo is a place full of strange, weird, and downright odd sights. We've got half-buried cars, mutant steaks, strange statues, and floating geological formations.

Most of our curiosities are designed to attract tourists, but not all of them. For instance, there's a building on 10th Street that is the stuff of nightmares for anyone with a fear of clowns.

The Creepy Clown Building On 10th In Amarillo, Texas

The building itself is unassuming. From the road, just passing by, you wouldn't think that there's anything there.

The truth, though, is quite the opposite. There is something to see.

Things are lurking within the walls and peering out the windows toward an unsuspecting city. People are driving by constantly, completely unaware that they're being watched. What could be so unsettling?

Clowns.

Clowns in the Windows

As you pass by this building, you'll catch sight of them. And by 'them', I mean the clowns. The strangest part is that it's just the clowns. This is not a store with big giant windows with display cases and a full inventory available for purchasing. There isn't a lobby or waiting area with nice "leather" couches.

The building is devoid of life, except for one thing.

The clowns.

The clowns appear to be mannequins or props of some kind. They're placed in odd positions peering out of the windows. To add another layer to the creepy factor, they aren't alone. There are some other oddities in the building as well.

The Great Clown Mystery Of Amarillo, Texas

Where did these clowns come from? Why are they there? What are they watching for? One theory is that this building is used as some kind of storage, possibly for a haunted house or escape room. Another theory is that they are left over from a business that used to be there; like some kind of quasi ghosts.

What kind of business had these creepy clowns hanging is beyond me, but believe whatever helps you sleep at night.

The mystery has been debated, and I've yet to find an answer. I haven't included the exact address because I don't want to cause any problems for the building's owner. If the owner is out there, and they're up for answering the question, maybe they'll reach out and let me know the story of the Clowns of 10th Street.
