Amarillo, Texas, has done it once again. With all of the wild weather we've been having, you had to know it would break records. The most amazing part of the broken record is how long it had been standing before this week.

Amarillo, Texas Breaks A Winter Weather Record Over 100 Years Old

According to the National Weather Service Amarillo, this week's brutal temps broke the previously held records for lowest low and lowest high. February 19 was historically cold.

The record for the lowest high on February 19 was set almost 100 years ago. On that day the recorded high was a balmy 24 degrees. This year the warmest it got was 16 degrees.

In 1905, a record low of 3 degrees was set. This year, 120 years later, we finally beat the record with a low of 2 degrees. History is fine to read about. I'm not a big fan of living it. Especially when it's this cold.

 Warmer Temps On The Way For Amarillo, But Don't Get Too Excited

Fortunately, we're about to see a run of warmer weather. Forecasts even have us in the 70s next week. That's a lot better than this record-breaking freeze fest we've been living through.

I've been caught walking in a snowsquall. My pipes have burst at my house thanks to the cold weather. My dog is driving me insane from being cooped up inside the house where it's warm. I'm ready for the winter weather to go away.

Unfortunately, the Farmer's Almanac uses the words cold, rain, and snow to describe March before we get a warmer-than-average April. If they're right, we just have to make it through one more month, and then we can start worrying about how hot it is again.

I can't wait for it.
