First Snowfall In The Amarillo Forecast
**As with any long range forecasts, conditions and models can change often. We will update this page as often as possible with the latest information.**
It could happen as early as this Sunday - the first snowfall of Fall 2018! Temperatures are expected to be the lowest of the season this Sunday, and with precipitation moving in, that could mean more than just rain.
The remnants of Pacific Hurricane Sergio will move over the Texas panhandle Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Sergio is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain back to the panhandle and with it the chance for some flooding again. After Sergio exits to the northeast, a strong cold front will make it`s way to the panhandles. Temperatures on Sunday night could dip as low as the mid 20's. A hard freeze is expected across the panhandle, and with the cold air, the potential for moderate to heavy snows will be possible. The heaviest is expected across portions of the northwestern Texas panhandle, including areas such as Dalhart. Closer to Amarillo, snowfall amounts will be less, however a dusting is possible.
The timing of the storm, as well as the overall forecast can still change a lot before the storm arrives, however it looks like rain could start on Saturday afternoon. As we get into Sunday morning, we could begin seeing some snow mixing in with better chances at steady snow later on Sunday evening.
