[Update] Frenship ISD Teacher Posts #ImNotRacist Rant on Facebook
[UPDATE] Frenship ISD has officially terminated Karen Fitzgibbon's employment at Bennett Elementary School. [More details].
A teacher at Bennett Elementary School in the Frenship Independent School District is facing disciplinary action following a race-related post she put on her personal Facebook page Wednesday (June 10).
Karen Fitzgibbons' controversial Facebook status update (which has since been deleted) was in response to the resignation of McKinney Police Officer Eric Casebolt following the video of him pulling his gun on a group of teenagers and pushing a teenager to the ground.
Fitzgibbons' post read:
This makes me ANGRY! This officer should not have to resign. I'm going to just go ahead and say it... The blacks are the ones causing the problems and this 'racial tension.' I guess that is what happens when you flunk out of school and have no education. I'm sure their parents are just as guilty for not knowing what their kids were doing; or knew it and didn't care. I'm almost to the point of wanting them all segregated on one side of town so they can hurt each other and leave the innocent people alone. Maybe the 50s and 60s were really on to something, Now, let the bashing of my true and honest opinion begin ...GO! #imnotracist #imsickofthemcausingtrouble #itwasagatedcommunity
Frenship ISD spokesman Andy Penney sent Everything Lubbock a statement regarding the post: "FISD cannot speak to specific personnel matters, but situations dealing with employee electronic use are taken seriously by our district. Policies and procedures were created so that FISD can respond to employee electronic use situations in a timely and appropriate manner."
Karen Fitzgibbons is going to be disciplined by Frenship ISD for the post, the only question is how severely?
