Recently, we posted an article about holiday hours in Amarillo, Texas. There are going to be many places in town that are going to be open as long as possible to give you every last possible second to get your shopping done. On Christmas Day, we all know that some restaurants will be open in case you and your family would rather go out for a holiday dinner. They aren't the only places open, though.

Be Kind To Gas Station Employees This Christmas

I came across this sign recently and it made me stop in my tracks for a second. It's not just restaurant employees who put in long hours on what is supposed to be a family holiday. At this Pak-A-Sak, they're going from 7 AM to 10 PM. Most of the gas stations in town will be open.

I remember being a kid traveling with my family, and always thinking it was weird how even the gas stations were open. As I got older, I realized that the only reason we were able to wander all over God's green Earth on Christmas is that gas stations stay open and that person behind the counter gave up their holiday.

Keep In Mind The Whole Point Of The Season

This time of year is supposed to be about joy, peace, and goodwill toward men...so to speak. It isn't about losing your temper in a gas station. The person behind the counter probably wishes they could swap places with you. Yet here they are, stuck at work.

If you go out to eat, treat your server well. If you have to stop and get gas on the way there, be kind to the people behind the counter in the gas station. Don't be the yuletide jerk-face that ruins everyone's good time.
