Ho Ho Ho! There’s a Great Big Christmas Surprise Hidden Away in This Neighborhood in Amarillo
There's a special little surprise tucked away in the historic Wolflin district of Amarillo, Texas. Yes, really.
Yesterday, I was headed home from our Help4TheHolidays donation drive and headed east on 34th Avenue. I had passed Georgia Street and was halfway to Washington street when I saw a giant red gleam on the left out of the corner of my eye.
And what I saw was enough to make me quickly flip a (probably illegal) U-turn and then turn right onto the 3200-block of Hawthorne Drive.
Here's A Sight To Behold
I couldn't believe my eyes.
Someone...some brilliant person had managed to talk every homeowner on the block into displaying a giant, 10-foot tall inflatable Santa in their front yard.
The results?
Absolutely fabulous.
I could barely contain myself as I drove down the slight curve of Hawthorne. It was equal parts giggle, glee, and wonder. I suppose this is what they call the Christmas magic.
I ooooh-ed and ahhhh-ed my way down Hawthorne, and when I hit the roundabout, I went ahead and took the long way home through Wolflin. After the row of 10-foot-tall Santas had welcomed me to the neighborhood, I figured why not?
It would be rude to turn away such a wonderful welcome by an entire residential block of Jolly Saint Nick.
So, whoever the brilliant mastermind behind this Christmas 2023 stunt is....thank you. I needed to have that Christmas magic to enjoy.
And to the homeowners of 3200-block of Hawthorne Drive, bless you! And Merry Christmas.
As for the citizens of Amarillo, go take a look for yourself! It's fantastic.
