So I'm an avid sports guy. Any chance I can get to go out and play sports is a good day for me.

When you can couple that with playing sports for a good cause, you'll most likely definitely see me out there.

The 3rd annual Swing Fore A Cause golf tournament is back, and it lands on my birthday this year. It goes down on September 10 at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course in Canyon, one of the nicest courses in the Amarillo area.

Amarillo Police Officers Association and the 100 Club have teamed up to bring you one of the best golf tournaments of the year.

APOA Board Member and Coordinator Corporal Ben Prewett said, “We are excited to bring this 4-person scramble back for another year. Every cent we make from this event will be split
equally between the APOA and the 100 Club to support our local and area first responders.”

Here's something I bet you didn't know. The tournament didn't even start as a golf tournament. It began back in 2017 as a dodgeball tournament. The event raised more than $50,000 for area non-profits.

It was in 2020 the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle became the beneficiary, and that's when it became a golf tournament.

If you want more info, or better yet, register a team for the scramble, you can visit swingforeacause.com. It's only $400 per team to get registered, and each golfer will get lunch, three free drink tickets and a swag bag.

Come out and support a good cause, and show off those golf skills!

In fact as of last year, Texas is only second to Florida (by two players) as the state with the most players in the NFL.
