Halloween is my favorite holiday. Christmas is neat. Thanksgiving is fun. But there's just something about Halloween.

This year will be extra special, since it will be the first one I've been able to spend with my daughter. I'm hoping that 2020 doesn't ruin this for me too.

One of my favorite parts of the Halloween season is the stores that pop up. I spend hours every year just browsing through the costumes, the decorations, the props...I love it all.

Already open for the season this year is Spirit and Halloween City.

Spirit is in the same location. You can find them on Soncy in the building that used to be the home for Toys 'R' Us. Follow this link to their website for more info.

Halloween City lists their location as 3339 Bell Street in the shopping center. Their website says they are already open for the season. You can get more information by following this link to their website.

Both stores have safety guidelines regarding social distancing and masks. Spirit's website even states that they will be limiting capacity.

Of course, the "big box stores" are already stocking their costumes and decor. Target and Walmart usually get started early.

In the past, I've usually grabbed costume materials from Spirit. The year I put together my own costume of Dr. Frank N. Furter, I found what I needed at Spirit. From the corsette and boy shorts, to the whip and fake pearl necklace.

For the stiletto heels I had to go to Dillard's. They had a special going that day on women's shoes.

I won't ever forget the cashiers' faces at both stores.

I usually get ideas and accessories from Halloween City and the other seasonal stores, and I'll snag some decor from the big box stores like Target and Walmart.

Here's to hoping we get to have a somewhat normal, fun, spooky Halloween. This season is officially here.
