My inner child is screaming. The author of the iconic Hank the Cowdog series of books will be in Amarillo Friday. You'll want to get your space reserved soon though, there's a limited capacity for the event.

John Erickson, Author Of Hank The Cowdog

To say that the author of the beloved children's series is prolific, would be an insane understatement. There are 76 books in the Hank the Cowdog series.

And that's just the Hank the Cowdog series.

Fun fact, supposedly Hank the Cowdog is the longest running successful children's series on audio. He's been doing audio books since way before it was cool.

A Lot Of Us Grew Up With Hank The Cowdog

I can't remember a single library I visited as a kid that didn't have Hank in it. Every one of them carried the Hank the Cowdog series. My friends and I would wax philosophical (as philosophical as prepubescent males can) over Hank's adventures on the playground after lunch.

For a lot of us, Hank was a part of growing up. The audio books gave our teachers a much needed break. The books gripped you by your imagination and often by your funny bone.

This is why I'm hoping I can take my kids to go see John this Friday.
