I'm a little bit confused as to why I haven't heard about this sooner. Apparently there is a sort-of mascot roaming in Canyon. That mascot is none other than Richard P. Cock.

Who is Richard? That's what I would like to know.

Free Range Peacock

Apparently there is a peacock in canyon that roams somewhat freely. I've never seen him down on the square, near any of my favorite restaurants, or near the school and daycare my kids attend.

Thanks to social media, there's a lot of photographic evidence of this "free range" peacock roaming parts of Canyon.

Why Is There a Peacock in Canyon...

...is what I would like to know. Especially one that seems to enjoy a certain level of autonomy. I could be absolutely ignorant to the fact there is an indigenous species of peacock to the area.

The Palodurous Peacockus Myteriosis or something similarly silly.

How People React To Seeing Richard

Looking on social media, it seems that Richard isn't overly aggressive or angry. In fact, most people see to enjoy their interactions with Richard. I've seen photos of people waking up to find him perched on to of their vehicle or strutting through their yard.

It seems innocent enough, though, he doesn't seem like a fan of cats according to one post.

Keep Any Eye Out

If you happen to cross paths with Richard, be kind and let him go about his business. If you happen to get some photos, be sure to share them with us in the comments.

By the way, Richard definitely needs his own Facebook page, TikTok account, and Twitter feed.
