If We Had To Pick Only One Classic Cartoon, Texas Picks The Sea
Many of us still have rousing debates and discussions over our favorite cartoons growing up. For many of us, Nickelodeon was the end-all, be-all of animated programming. A study was recently done to see which state aligns with which classic Nickelodeon cartoon most.
Apparently, Texas likes their pineapples under the sea.
When It Comes To Texans Favorite Nickelodeon Cartoon, The Choice Is Obvious
Who would love to live in a pineapple under the sea? Texans.
According to a study done recently by Shane Co. on which classic Nickelodeon cartoon is most popular by state, Texas went to SpongeBob SquarePants. Honestly, I wasn't surprised.
Think back on what you know of SpongeBob. One of the main, and most beloved characters, is a squirrel. That squirrel is named Sandy, and she hails from the Lone Star State.
How The Heck Did They Come Up With This?
They used Google Trends to see what "retro" Nickelodeon cartoons each state was looking up the most. Our neighbors in Oklahoma joined us in our love for he who is absorbent, yellow, and porous.
There were some real blasts from the past on the list. Ren and Stimpy made a decent showing in the study. By the way, there is supposedly a reboot of that one on the way.
It made me feel old looking at the list and hearing some of the stuff I watched in younger years being referred to as retro and classic. Even more so with SpongeBob. I wasn't a kid who grew up on it. I was already pretty much grown.
How can it already be "retro"?
Check out the link above for more insight and info, and hats off to Sandy for keeping it Texan under the sea. Apparently, we dig it.
