We just recently found out about a new potato place coming to Amarillo. The news of Jacket Potato taking over the former Potato Factory location on Western has led to a lot of questions.

Are these the same owners taking over? If not, who owns them? What is a Jacket Potato? Are we going to have to worry about the drama that unfolded at the former location that caused the closure? Or are the bathrooms safe to use?

 If you are unfamiliar with the downfall of The Potato Factory, there were cameras found in the restroom, and that didn't sit well with anyone. There was a shift in who was running it after that came out. The ending still came for the location.

It has been sitting empty until the banner popped up, hinting at a new place coming. Jacket Potato is the new place coming soon. According to their website, in England, a baked potato is called a jacket potato. So that is where the name came from.

Though these baked potatoes are all Texas, don't you worry. The newer banner that is now in front of the building has addressed the bathroom controversy. Since all of Amarillo is talking about it anyway, they might as well lean into it.

Now Hiring: How to Join the Jacket Potato Team

They have shown that they have a sense of humor, at least, and according to the banner, the restrooms have been thoroughly remodeled. It doesn't specifically hint at camera-free restrooms, but they know this is the topic of discussion, so kudos to them.

So it's starting to all make sense. Toot'nTotum started the venture with Mitch's BBQ and is now entering the world of potatoes. As long as the potatoes are yummy and the bathrooms are camera-free, I feel Amarillo will be happy.
