It's always one of the hardest decisions you'll make during your work day. That nice one-hour break when you slip away from all the hustle and bustle, or monotony depending on your job. You fantasize about it throughout the day, but can never seem to decide.

I'm talking about where you're going to eat lunch. It tends to be the thing you grapple with in your head the entire front half of your day.

Amarillo is not short on restaurants, that's one thing we have an abundance of, and that just makes it even more difficult to figure out where you're going to stuff your face.

Well thankfully, I'm here to help you with some of the best places you can go and actually sit down at and enjoy a really good meal, all within the hour timeframe you have away from the office. Let's just cut right to the chase here.

TYLER'S BBQ

Let's start with a place that ALWAYS gets mentioned as a go-to spot when people ask where they should go to eat. Nothing will make you feel good like some solid BBQ, and Tyler's has some of the best in the city.

I know BBQ can get expensive, I mean meat in general is these days, but when they take all that time to smoke you up some solid meats, it gets expensive in a hurry. Well, not at Tyler's, and they have some great specials you can take advantage of that are perfect for lunch.

Their rib special in my opinion is to die for. You get three perfectly smoked ribs that fall right off the bone, one side of your choosing, toast, and a medium drink and that bad boy only runs you $16.95. That's a killer deal that is sure to fill you up for lunch and make you want more for dinner.

GOLDENLIGHT CAFE

Here's a place that I've personally heard a TON about in my 2+ years here, yet I still haven't personally made the trip in to try them. Maybe it's time I give into my stomach and do it.

There's one thing I always see and hear get mentioned when it comes to Goldenlight, and it's their burgers. I mean, I can't speak about the taste from experience, but those prices I see online are absolutely unbeatable. $6.99 for a double burger? Come on now, NO ONE can get away with that and have quality in that burger right?

Apparently, Goldenlight pulls off both, so maybe I'll see you there for lunch today.

CAFE MARIZON

So maybe you don't want something so heavy like a burger or ribs. Light and easy will do the trick for you, but you don't want to sacrifice the flavor. Cafe Marizon sounds like it's your place.

The one thing I've noticed is people rave about their sandwiches there with one person just point-blank recommending the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Look, I love ham and cheese, and if you're grilling it? You just won my heart over. Now I'm struggling to figure out where to go today myself.

FIRE SLICE PIZZERIA

Now I understand that pizza is not typically something you think about when it comes to lunch. That's usually one of those Friday evening meals when you don't want to cook, or just something you order up when life is too busy on a certain evening.

But a good pizza for lunch is DEFINITELY something you can do. Fire Slice Pizzeria actually has a lunch special that you can't beat, and the pizza is flat-out amazing. For just $9.99, you going to get yourself a delicious 10" personal pizza, whatever you want, along with a soft drink. I mean, a combo meal at a fast food place will cost you the same amount, and I'm sorry, but the pizza at Fire Slice is going to be better than any drive-thru you can hit.
