With youth baseball in full swing here in Amarillo and across the Texas Panhandle, you'll see kids working at the batting cages, then showing off those skills out on the baseball fields. Teams competing against one another trying to reach that championship game.

Some of those kids you'll see sending balls over the fence, creating a massive roar from the parents heard around the park, and fun celebrations with the kids awaiting the big hitter at home plate.

However, what you don't get a chance to see at these tournaments and games are all the fun events the kids love to participate in, the main one being a home run derby. Thanks to Children's Miracle Network, they get their chance to show off their skills.

The Home Run Derby is back once again, and those kiddos are going to get the chance to show us those power swings and see how many they can put over the fence. Oh yeah, the parents are going to get their chance to flex as well.

Let's add in the fact that they're going to get to take their hacks on the field at HODGETOWN and have a day where they get to feel like they're playing their way to the big leagues, and you've got a perfect day for everyone.

June 20th is when it's all going down, and registration for the event is happening right now. It's just $30 if you get signed up during early registration (which lasts until June 2nd), and all the proceeds are going right back to Children's Miracle Network to help those kiddos who need it.

The Home Run Derby is for ages 5-17, so no matter the age or level of your player, they can get in it. For the older kids (at heart), the Power Swing Showdown is for you. That's where all the 18+ participants will get to try and bomb some over the HODGETOWN fence.

I promise you, yours truly will be out there to embarrass myself, but with every intention of putting one off the bar in left field. See ya there!
