How 107 Roasters Is Bringing Award-Winning Coffee to Amarillo
The one thing that is great about Amarillo is that you can always come home again. While many people who have grown up and lived in the city move away, some always find their way back. Sometimes, when returning to Amarillo, they bring a great new business with them.
Dave and Elaine Krazer have brought their 107 Roasters coffee business to Amarillo.
Why 107 Roasters Chose Amarillo
107 Roasters is known for roasting some of the best coffee in Texas. Here's a little bit of backstory and how this McKinney business is relocating to Amarillo.
The 107 Roaster Motto is: Relate, Educate, Caffeinate.
107 Roasters Coffee Roots: From Kenya to Kuwait
Elaine has grown up around coffee her entire life. Her parents were coffee aficionados who apparently carried a coffee pot with them wherever they went. When Elaine was three, she had some medical issues, and instead of prescribing medication, doctors told her to drink a small amount of coffee daily.
Elaine was born in New Mexico, but lived on a coffee farm in Nairobi, Kenya, for seven years. If you're living on a coffee farm, you are learning all about the art of coffee at a young age. After living in Kenya, her family moved to the Middle East, where she lived in different coffee-centric cities, including Kuwait.
Elaine also loves Hawaii, and while working on different projects there, she met a coffee farmer. She and her husband, expert roaster Dave, partnered with him and created Pacific Tradewinds Coffee in 2015 in McKinney, Texas. Elaine and Dave later rebranded to the beloved and award-winning 107 Roasters in 2024.

Earlier in adulthood, Elaine and her husband lived and worked in Amarillo. Life took them away for a while, but as luck would have it, a job offer brought them back home, and with that, they’re relocating 107 Roasters to the Yellow City.
Now, with that relocation, they have partnered with Daron and Kristi Casler. As mentioned above, Elaine lived in Kuwait, and as luck would have it, Daron and Elaine were friends at a young age. Their fathers both worked for the same company in Kuwait, and they went to middle school together.
Peace Love and Cookies: A Local Partnership
For those who might not know, Daron and Kristi run Peace Love Cookies, which you might be familiar with because they sell them at local farmers' markets and trade shows. Daron tells us that Kristi is the creative force behind Peace Love Cookies; he just helps! Truth be told, they are some of the best cookies you will ever eat.
Before 2020 and the pandemic, the Krazers and the Caslers talked about creating something coffee-centric in Amarillo. Like so many plans, COVID put that dream on the back burner. However, with 107 Roasters moving to Amarillo, they are finally bringing that together.
What to Expect at the Amarillo 107 Roasters & Café
107 Roasters will be roasting up their award-winning coffee here in Amarillo, serving coffee, drinks, pastries, baked goods, and other food in the 107 Roasters Café. And yes, they’ll include Peace Love Cookies along with other sweet treats from the Caslers. Their “Beverage Beast,” Patrick, has come up with amazing drinks that will appear on the menu.
The roasting process is fascinating, and once the new roasting location is up and running, they will offer tours where you can learn about the art of coffee roasting. Plus, you'll be able to purchase bags of their 107 Roasters Coffee, roasted right here in Amarillo.
The 107 Roasters crew offered a sneak peek tour of the facilities. They explained how the coffee bean is grown, harvested, and then demonstrated how the coffee was roasted in their coffee roasting machine that they affectionately call Heisenberg (yes, that Heisenberg). The whole roasting shop has fun and quirky names for all their machines, including Priscilla Presley (the coffee pod press), Thanos (the coffee grinder), to name a few.
Tour the Coffee Roasting Process
Coffee roasting is an art, and 107 Roasters is going to be an amazing addition to the Amarillo coffee scene. The 107 Roasters Café is still under construction. When open, it will sport a rock-and-roll vibe, with tributes to vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs, and digital music.
