Strange things happen in Amarillo all the time, but sometimes you read about something, and it stops you right in your tracks. This is one of those times and you won't be able to stop thinking about it.

What Redditors Are Saying About the Dead Birds

I was perusing through Reddit like I always do when I have a few minutes to kill or need to know what's going on around town. That's when a post caught my eye, titled exactly like this: "Weird happenings on plains and bell"

Weird things are always happening around the city.  But this one made me go ick.  A Redditor brought up a concern about dead birds around the area of Plains Blvd and Bell St. The description was quite graphic, so if you don't want to be subject to that, you'll want to stop reading. They described the birds as having their head ripped clean off, and the birds' bodies were left. The Redditor went on to describe seeing two more birds in more graphic detail, but you can read that for yourself.

The concern is what is killing these birds; the Redditor noted that it seemed too clean to be another animal. I have seen way too many horror and sci-fi movies to let this go.

Feral Cats and Power Lines: Other Possible Explanations

One of the suggestions in the comments was that these birds are hitting powerline transformers. Though others chalked it up to feral cats, wouldn't they have eaten the whole bird?

Have You Seen Dead Birds in Your Amarillo Neighborhood?

I guess we'll soon find out if it's a horror monster just starting small or if it's just another animal searching for a snack. Either way, I'll sleep with one eye open.
