The Amarillo Zoo has stepped into a new chapter, and now the Amarillo community has a chance to help shape its future. We can turn this local favorite into something truly special for generations to come.

The Amarillo Zoo, for the longest time, has been part of family traditions, school trips, and a go-to place to learn. However, over the years, it hasn’t received the investment it needed due to city budget constraints.

How to Donate to the Amarillo Zoo and Sanctuary

Recently, the Amarillo Zoo transitioned into a nonprofit organization and was renamed the Amarillo Zoo & Sanctuary. Since taking over, the employees have been working hard to get the zoo ready for reopening here in a few weeks. One of their current projects is cleaning the moat in the spider monkey enclosure, including rescuing the creatures living in the water. The moat hasn't been drained in three years, and cleaning it is just one of the many improvements happening at the zoo.

Why the Amarillo Zoo Is Asking for Donations Now

Now that the Amarillo Zoo is officially a nonprofit, the community has a chance to be directly involved. Donations are now tax-deductible, making it even easier to support the zoo. Now, as a community, we can support the zoo, and the more support they receive, the better improvements can be made. Just imagine what the Amarillo Zoo can become as animal habitats are updated and improved. It will be a zoo that the community will be proud to visit.
