Now, another building, that was once the classiest place to stay, might be getting a new revival.  Now this particular building isn't downtown, but it was the fanciest place to stay in Amarillo for decades. The Ambassador Hotel.

It looks like the Ambassador Hotel may be seeing new life.  All signs point to this hotel reopening.

History of the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo

The hotel was originally built in 1983. Back in 2014, Wyndham bought The Ambassador Hotel and planned to rebrand. Unfortunately, not long after the rebrand, the hotel closed on September 29, 2017, and has been empty ever since.  At one point, there was an issue of break-ins and fires in the empty building.

Who Owns the Ambassador Hotel Now

According to PRAD.org, the property changed hands in February 2025 and is owned by Everheart Hospitality, LLC, out of Tomball, Texas.  After further research, it looks as if the registered agent for Everheart Hospitality, LLC is Syed Hasan.

Could the Ambassador Reopen as a Radisson Hotel?

Our source says it could reopen as a Radisson in early 2026, though the exterior condition and reported interior issues suggest a major renovation will be needed.

What a Reopening Means for Amarillo Travelers and Locals

With that said, can this hotel come back to life?  Will it return to the Ambassador Texas-sized hospitality we all knew and loved with a new name, or will it just become another hotel for travelers to stay?

Stand by, hopefully we'll find the answer soon.

The Derelict Beauty of Amarillo's Abandoned Buildings

What is it about abandoned buildings tempts our imagination? Perhaps it's the fact that all of these places were once alive at one point of time. All of these buildings were once a part of everyday life.

But as they are now, they are empty and barren. All we have left of these abandoned properties in Amarillo are memories left to the echoes of time.
